What's wrong with this picture?

The following headline emphasizes the biggest problem in our country precisely.

Proposed Dem Budget Increases Spending 62% Over Next Decade

The title should say enough. But in case it doesn't, you must first understand that all federal budgets automatically increase annually by as much as 10%. Any talk of lowering this growth to something more reasonable and manageable for the taxpayer has Democrats crying "Draconian cuts" and "GOP killing babies and elderly" etc. even though more is spent than the year previous. What's wrong with federal agencies submitting budget proposals for what they really need? Or for increasing them in pace with inflation? Or for combining overlapping programs to save money? Or for reforming entitlements so that they'll actually last more than five or ten more years? Huh?

Unhealthy deficit growth will bite the US in the butt soon enough. Why not prepare, I ask you? Plan ahead? Avert the catastrophe for something less painful in the long run by cutting spending? Hmmm?

Politics is the answer - but Americans should play a part there too by contacting their representatives and electing fiscal responsible leaders. Pass it on.

  1. I think the senate was confusing "budget" with "all-out Christmas wish list". This kind of crap makes me so sick.
